How To Sponge Or Wet Sand Drywall

919-542-5336 Sponging or wet sanding drywall is very simple!

(1). Once you have applied the joint compound to the repaired area and got it as smooth as you possibly can simply wet a sponge just enough that water is not dripping from it.

(2). Gently rub the repaired area in a circular motion just enough to remove any rough edges. Knife marks or estra rough areas may need to be scrapped using a 4" mud knife after you wet the surface of the repair. When scrapping be careful not to gouge the joint compound.

(3). Let the sponged area dry throughly and then do touch up using ready mix joint compound. Simply fill areas do not leave a build up or heavy coat. Really rough areas may need to be touched up twice.

(4). When the touch up dries you will need to sponge those areas as well. After all sponging is completed and the area is completely dry run your fingers over the repaired area. If you see or feel anything that feels rough it either needs more sponging or maybe more touchup. Follow these steps until the area is copletely smooth.

NOTICE: The repaired area must be finished to a smooth and level condition before you begain the sponging process.
